I study compact object astrophysics, focusing on the signals produced by merging black holes and neutron stars. My work involves developing algorithms to detect gravitational waves in data from the LIGO and Virgo interferometers, extract the physical parameters of these mergers, and analyze the events collectively to characterize the astrophysical population. By comparing the observed distributions of masses, spins, and merger times with theoretical predictions, I aim to constrain the formation pathways of compact binaries.
