Ana Martina Botti

As a Ph.D. student, I worked at the Pierre Auger Observatory on the underground muon detector, which consisted of plastic scintillators with Silicon photomultipliers, to determine the mass composition of high and ultra-high energy cosmic rays. I took the leading role in characterizing and developing the simulations, calibration, monitoring, and data analysis tools.

In 2020, I joined the R&D efforts toward multi-kilogram skipper-CCD detectors for rare-events searches. I currently lead the development of a low-background Silicon-based package at ANL. I am an active member of the SENSEI and OSCURA experiments aimed at probing ultra-light dark matter interaction with electrons in a Silicon target. I am also actively involved in nuclear reactor experiments to measure coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scatterings with Skipper-CCDs. In addition, I spend a lot of time at the laboratory characterizing these detectors and their backgrounds, as well as thinking of and trying new implementations for many different science applications.
